South Llano River State Park, located 3 1/2 miles south of Junction off Highway 377 S offers miles of hiking and backpacking trails.
In the Walter Buck Wildlife Management Area, there are approximately 16 miles of unpaved roads that dissect many distinct habitat types opened to the public during non-hunting periods. The trail roads are steep and rocky throughout many locations on the Buck Area. Trail maps are available at the Park entrance.
Avid hikers also love to explore Enchanted Rock. A huge pink granite dome, situated in a State Park Natural area north of Fredericksburg, Over 7 miles of hiking trails are available. Popular year-round, Enchanted Rock rises 425 feet above ground and covers 640 acres. Visitors enjoy backpacking, rock climbing, hiking, picnicking, bird watching and star gazing.
